How to prepare call-ups for a match or tournament?

Start with availability

Call-ups without availability are guesswork. Before you build the squad, collect information from players about who can play. The dedicated football player availability app page explains that process. Only then does squad selection make sense.

Pick the squad based on confirmations

Check who confirmed availability for the match or tournament.

Mark the players you're calling up to the squad.

Pay attention to positions and the number of players on the bench.

Decide whether you also communicate the role (e.g. starting eleven, reserve).

Send call-ups to the right people

Send the call-up to the selected player or their parents, according to the team’s contact settings. That way nobody has to scroll messages to find out whether they're in the squad.

Include specifics: the meeting time, place and any organisational notes.

Tip

Send call-ups with enough lead time. Parents often arrange transport, so last-minute information lowers attendance.
