For club administrators
Start the next season with the club structure you already have, prepare existing teams for the new playing year and keep the history of events, attendance and statistics from earlier periods.
In an academy, U8, U9, U10 and older teams finish one cycle of training sessions, matches and attendance. After the break, some players stay, some leave, new players arrive and age-group names may need updating.
The administrator needs to begin current work for a new date range without deleting what coaches recorded before. A season in TrainTeam separates new events from earlier ones, while keeping everyone in the same club structure.
TrainTeam separates time from the organisation's structure. Events and the data generated by them have a season, while teams, players and staff remain continuous club entities.
The previous season is not a frozen squad snapshot. Preserved history comes from data attached to earlier events, while current team memberships continue.
The wizard proposes a name and dates based on the current season and the club's configured start month. You can change them.
A new season is created or, if it already exists, selected as active. The wizard switches the club to it immediately.
Teams are not copied. For names U4–U22, the wizard suggests the next number, such as U10 → U11; the administrator approves the change.
Select players who will not continue. Everyone else keeps their existing team membership.
For each team, decide whether contact must go through a parent or may go directly to an active player account with a reachable fallback.
The wizard saves the season change, accepted team names, departures and contact modes. New events can now belong to the new period.
The transition has clear stages for the season, teams, departures, contact and summary. The administrator sees proposed values and approves changes before they are saved.
Read the new-season guideEvery season has a name, start date and end date. Date ranges cannot overlap.
The wizard works with existing teams. It does not create copies assigned only to the new season.
Players stay in their teams. The administrator selects only the people who are leaving.
Training, matches, call-ups, results and actual attendance stay attached to earlier events.
Statistics and attendance can be viewed for a selected season or across a broader period.
The administrator selects the current period. A scheduled future season can activate on its start date.
Continuity does not mean copying records. Player profiles and staff memberships continue, while historical data stays with events from the correct season.
You do not add a continuing player again. Earlier matches, minutes, goals, assists and attendance remain available through player statistics and season filters.
A coach belongs to the existing team, not to a seasonal copy. They therefore remain assigned after the season changes. If the staff changes, an administrator updates the assignment manually.
As a group gets older, the way the club contacts a player may change. The wizard therefore does not assume one answer for the entire academy.
Contact mode belongs to the team. The wizard simply gives the administrator a controlled moment to review it.
Player communication goes primarily to an active parent account. This setting can remain in place for younger groups.
When a player has an active account, they can be the preferred recipient. The resolver keeps a reachable fallback if that person has no active access.
The academy structure is not built again. The same groups move into the current period while their earlier events remain available in the relevant season.

Active
Seasons are a club-level setting, but their effect appears in the everyday work of every team.
Creates and activates the season, checks dates, team names, player departures and contact modes. Coaching changes and other squad corrections are made deliberately in club management.
Does not configure seasons. After the transition, the coach runs events, collects availability, selects call-ups, confirms actual attendance, records results and statistics, and communicates with the team.
The event date identifies its season. Attendance, match squad, result and actions are stored with that event, and reports read them later for the selected period.
A name and a non-overlapping date range.
Events with results, squads and timelines.
For the broader model of running many groups, see football academy management. This page focuses on the transition between periods.
Try the wizard with a demo club or begin with your own team. You will see exactly which changes require administrator approval.
FAQ
It remains in the season list together with events assigned by date. Changing the active season does not remove training sessions, matches, results, call-ups, attendance or statistics stored with those events.
No. A player's team membership continues and has no seasonal copy. In the wizard you mark departures; new players are added later through the normal squad-management flow.
No. The same team continues across seasons. The wizard can update its name and age group, but it creates neither a new team nor a seasonal copy.
No. For names in the U4–U22 format, TrainTeam proposes the next number, but an administrator approves it. Names based on a birth year or category are not recalculated and must be edited manually when needed.
Yes. An administrator can make an earlier season active again. Because the active season is the club's current context, remember to switch back after reviewing the older period.
They remain tied to earlier events. Statistics and attendance views can filter by season, and some summaries can include all seasons.
No copying is required because staff assignment to a team is continuous. If the coach changes, the administrator updates that assignment separately. Team event history stays in the club.
Contact mode belongs to the team, not to a season. The wizard shows every team and asks the administrator to confirm or change it, making the communication decision explicit as players get older.
Yes. Seasons can follow one another without overlapping dates. One is active and the others remain available as different periods in the club's history.
